For single molecule, super resolution (PALM / STORM) and live cell imaging at, or close to, the surface membrane we would recommend our Total Internal Reflectance Fluorescence (TIRF) or Highly Inclined and Laminated Optical sheet (HILO) Illumination systems.  We offer two solutions dependant on the budget and application.  In both cases the evanescence wave or highly inclined plane is formed by illuminating the edge of a high numerical aperture (TIRF) objective lens.

The OptoTIRF is a motorised single point TIRF condenser designed to be used with any software, or ,microscope, and compatible with single mode and small multimode fibres.  It is automated in X, Y, Z and bypass and is especially appropriate for building affordable stochastic super resolution rigs or as a straightforward upgrade to existing microscope frames.

The ILAS-2 circular TIRF system uses galvanometers to scan the back aperture of the objective within the camera integration period.  This has the benefit of averaging out interference fringes and yielding a very flat field.  It also makes the illuminator suitable for rapid sequential TIRF, HILO and widefield illumination and allows for realtime changes in penetration depth or correction between wavelengths
