A Sudden Shift in Seasons at the Cairn Farm
Goodness, the season at the Cairn farm has suddenly changed in the last few days! Now that we are in September, autumn has arrived right on schedule to put the dampeners on what was a long dry and sunny summer here in the Kent countryside (as ever, pronounce with care!)
Celebrations Just Before the Rain
However, apart from just one afternoon shower, it barely dampened our fortieth anniversary festivities at the end of August, but since then it’s been an entirely different matter.
Technically the celebrations should have taken place months before, as the Company was actually registered in January 1985, but we thought we’d wait for the summer for better weather. Well, it turned out that we’d almost left too late in the season, but not quite!
Games, Laughter, and a Pop-Up Feast
So the festivities began with a variety of what were loosely called “games”, organised by our fantastic host for the day, Duncan Tickler (who you may know from his pop up eatery…), and which most of us survived, although it was touch and go for a while with Martin being stuck under a stepladder that was masquerading as some sort of throne, and where he attempted to provide a pair of robot arms for delivering drinks to the occupant.
We also relaxed our strict dress code of morning suits and top hats for the day, although we hadn’t expected Christopher in particular to take such great advantage of this!
Barbecue and Brief Showers
After that it was time for the barbecue, fortunately with a gazebo to shelter under when we got hit by what turned out to be just the one passing shower, although we have had much more rain since then!
Exciting Times Ahead for Cairn
The festivities were only just in time in another respect too, as things at Cairn have suddenly become particularly busy. We’re still not quite ready to tell you all the things that we’re currently up to, but we’ll shortly be able to talk about one particular new product development collaboration, so do please keep an eye on our website for further details!
